oin us for the next session in our AROUND THE OUTSIDE series, FOLDS, CRUMPLES, KNOTS on Sunday, May 24 from 12pm. We will be exploring time: in life, in art, queer time, nonlinear time, filmic time, input time and output time, time vs. duration, timeliness, untimeliness, time travellers, being out of time, folded time, crumpled time, dimensional time, chronological and kairological time, entropic time, utopic time and the end of time.
Featuring a mini-lecture from the always on-time Astrid Lorange, a program of films including a screening of Chris Marker’s meditation on time ‘Sans Soleil’, a Reader for you to tackle in your own time and a BBQ for lunch-time.

Synopsis for MyMy by Anna Helme:
In a mythic cyberfeminist universe, a frustrated young man yearns for affinity and connection. In this age of digital avatars, he crafts a version of himself that is far more corporeal - by stitching together parts of himself to become his own cyborg twin, embracing the radical potential to create the self. However his new clone has been corrupted by a techno-magick virus. This Other self embodies a dangerous idea: that there are parts of ourselves beyond our control.
This lo-fi sci-fi short film is an experimental hybrid of documentary, fiction and performance art. The story plays out in an affective cinematic mode, largely based on a lexicon of imagery and gesture. It features two transgender men, playing a very queer version of their own characters as they perform aspects of themselves on screen. Throughout the film they are haunted by a chimera, a post-human personification of the desires, fears and possibilities that form who we might be in the future.
The film features a compelling cast of Sydney queer artists and performers. Jackson Stacy is a sculpture and media artist whose work includes The Testosterdome commissioned for Nextwave 2014, Vincent Silk is a writer of poetic science fiction and a craft-maker. Justin Shoulder is an acclaimed performance artist, whose shows include "The River Eats" at Carriage Works in 2013.
Biography
Anna Helme is a filmmaker, video artist and media activist. Her short films have featured in festivals internationally, including Frameline, Outfest, St Kilda and the Melbourne International Film Festival where she attended the Accelerator talent workshop in 2012, and won the Emerging Filmmaker Award at Sydney's Queer Screen MGFF in 2013. She's worked in community media around social justice and environmental issues since 2000, is a co-founder of EngageMedia working with online video in the Asia-Pacific, and has co-directed independent documentaries about a fat femme synchronised swim team and indigenous cultural connection to water. She's currently doing an artistic research PhD in queer moving image at the VCA in Melbourne.
