this soft machine is a sculptural installation that focuses on connecting the limits within and between material experimentation and performativity. It examines our relationship to identity, gender performance and constructive/destructive behavioural patterns through a queer lens. Moving between fabricated metal forms and textiles, each work compliments or subverts material and method. By testing the boundaries of the material, they resist expectation and definition – settling into unfamiliar forms. this soft machine questions the history of traditionally gendered mediums and how our internal and external stimuli feed and respond to stereotypes.
